It’s A New Day

Today is the start of a new month. A new day with beautiful weather, and I feel great. Having been down with a bad flu, last night was a great night because I really slept well, and I also get to rest today.  I sit by my window and listen to the birds singing outside. Their sweet melodies remind me of what a beautiful morning it is. I’m grateful that I get to see the start of a new month and for this new day. Indeed, this is the day the Lord has made, we will rejoice and be glad in it (Psalm 118:24).

As I sit and reflect in the quiet of this morning, I recall the verse for 2025:  Psalm 43:19 “Behold, I will do a new thing, now it shall spring forth; Shall you not know it?”. I look back, and the first four months of this year have been tumultuous. The world as we know it has changed. Our lives, friends, work, family, and just about everything has changed. Some of the changes have been good: infusing freshness into areas of our lives that were growing moldy. But goodness, some of those changes have been scary, painful, and may have left us wondering if we will have the strength to face tomorrow. I did not know it then, but now I see it: the new thing that the Lord is doing in my life through all these changes. It is a complete recalibration, a reset of sorts.

It is a moment to pause, reflect, and start over: letting go of what lies behind. Releasing the pain, the hurts, the unfinished business, the confusion, and everything that did not serve the purpose God has for us. Today, 1st May 2025, is a time to start over; to have hope, courage, and faith that what lies ahead is even greater. The moment right now is the best moment of my life yet, and I watch with quiet expectation as the Lord unfolds the great plans that I know he has for my life.

I am grateful that I get to share this moment with you. I do not know what’s holding you back. I do not know what has not worked before, but I do know one thing: He who calls us is faithful and he will bring to completion the good work that he has begun in every one of us (Philippians 1:6). Ours is to wake up with hope and courage and to show up. Today, I encourage us to be still and know that whatever we are going through will pass. The battle is not ours but the Lord’s.  2 Chronicles 20:17 You will not need to fight in this battle. Position yourselves, stand still and see the salvation of the LORD, who is with you, O Judah and Jerusalem!’ Do not fear or be dismayed; tomorrow go out against them, for the LORD is with you.”

Therefore, let us go out and face life with courage and the assurance that we already have the victory. Like a butterfly breaking free from its pupa cocoon, we step out free and beautiful, bringing the beauty that lies within to all we come across. Time to grow up and glow up!
